New layouts today featuring Autumn Sunset and Vellum Products

Well it’s Friday and reveal day for new kits from two of my favorite designers.  First let’s look at Autumn Sunset-a collection of digital scrapbooking supplies by Aimee Harrison Design Studios and Scrappy Cocoa Designs.  The collection is available at Digital Scrapbooking Studio.  Just click on the image to go there.

My first layout with this kit uses a photo taken at Panama City Beach  last October during our annual beach party there with friends.  Several of us were out taking photos that night. I shot a series of the sun going down.  We were watching for some alleged halo flash the sun does just as it goes down, but none of us saw it that night.

The second layout is of cute little Sarah last November in her favorite pink boots.  Kathryn, aka Dream Big Photography,  took the fabulous photos.

ANOTHER NEW PRODUCT

New this week also are some Vellum Products from Snips and Snails Designs that are just stunning.  They can be found at One Story Down by clicking on the image below to go there. I also used a kit that I love called Afternoon Tea–also at  One Story Down.

Now for the layouts I made with these products…

I just absolutely fell in love with this photo the first time I saw it.  It is priceless!  Again, one of Kathryn’s masterpieces–taken in Sarah’s room with her “reading” to her Rapunzel doll.  I just love that expression on Sarah’s face!  I was waiting on the right supplies to scrap this photo and these were perfect!

Next is a page featuring me–something I rarely do is to do a scrapbook page about myself.  I thought the neutral papers and elements from the kit Neutral LO Essentials would go well with the vellum.

That’s it for today.   Next week will be layouts with  fall and Halloween kits.  Check back again.

Art Journaling

I have joined Christine Smith’s creative team.  She has inspired me to learn more about art journaling.  This digital art style is very free and anything can be used to express thoughts and feelings.  Here is her current kit,  linked to her store.  Also a layout I have done with this kit is below.

This art journaling  page is about the beauty we see around us.  I took the photo of this garden bench because I loved the intricate iron work. So many THINGS have beauty, but there is also beauty in people–the beauty in their hearts and actions.

New layouts today! Check them out!

Two great new products are released today by my favorite designers.  First let’s look at the Fisherman’s Wharf collection from Aimee Harrison.  This has lots of wonderful components and inspiration.  Here’s the collection and link to a store where you can fine it.

I just loved the word art seaside solitude in the kit.  I love the beach early in the morning when almost no one is around.  It is so peaceful.  My layout tries to reflect that feeling.  The journaling says, “sit in reverie and watch the changing colors of the waves that break upon the idle seashore of the mind,” written long ago by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Next is a great back-to-school collection call Upper Classmen from Snips and Snails Designs.  I did two layouts with this collection of digital scrapbooking supplies.  One Story Down is where you can find it.

The first layout is of Patrick–starting his freshman year in high school this year.  Kathryn has taken this photo of him in August.

And this one is of William who was sooooo excited about starting 5 year kindergarten that he couldn’t stand still for a photo.  I love that enthusiasm for school!  I was always excited to start school each year and remember that feeling of expectations.

I’m already working on next week’s layouts.  Check back then for sure!

My Collection and Sneak Peek for Friday

I wanted to show you a wonderful kit call Oh So Folksy by Aimee Harrison.  This is not a new kit but one I think is perfect for fall in any year.

Here’s my layout featuring one of my collections.  I have always collected things and have many different type collections.  This is one I started probably 25 years ago and still add a piece if I find something special.  As you can read in the journaling, the pieces are all made by the same company and have their trademark cat somewhere on the piece.  I was surprised to find one last year in Alaska in an art studio in Juneau.

And here’s the Sneak Peak for Fisherman’s Wharf by Aimee that will be released on Friday.  I have made a layout with this kit so be sure to check it out on Friday for the unveiling.

Season of Change

The weather is getting a bit cooler here in Georgia, at least at night, but the feeling of fall is here.  Christine Smith has a beautiful fall kit titled Season of Change.  It has beautiful fall colors and elements. The image below is linked to her store.

Here’s a layout I did for her.  This was a one-kit call I responded to and volunteered to make a layout with this beautiful kit.  I took this photo last November at Berry College.  I thought the white swan contrasted well with the bright fall colors. I blended three papers from the kit and used lots of leaves and flowers.

Strawberries and Wine today-Yum!

I have lots to show you today!  First I’ll show you the new digital scrapbooking collection from Aimee Harrison Design Studios–Wine Country.  This collection is beautiful with rich colors and lots of extras. And best of all it is available at the introductory price of 40% off at Digital Scrapbooking Studio. Just click on the image to go there.

Here’s two layouts I made with Wine Country.  The first is a lovely picture Kathryn took at Thanksgiving in 2011.  It shows beautiful light play in the glass and is a fabulous photo.

The next one is called Memories.  I thought of this after hearing the song on the radio.  At my wedding so long ago, the bridesmaids wore this color purple and we drank wine out of an silver goblet engraved with our names and  wedding date.

Next think Strawberries.  Strawberry Fields is a new release today and just perfect for scrapping any photos about summer or strawberries.  I also noted that the red and green papers would be perfect for Christmas also.  Here the collection and the image is linked to a store where it can be found.

The first layout below is of Joe picking strawberries this year at the local strawberry farm.  We had a good time and ate home-made strawberry ice cream at the farm after we finished picking.  It was cold and good!

Here’s one of some strawberry jam I made.  Actually it turned out more like strawberry syrup, but it taste great!

That’s it for today.  I’m been a busy girl!

Sneak Peek

Here’s a sneak peek at Wine Country by Aimee Harrison to be released on Friday.  This is a beautiful kit with lots of rich colors.  Perfect for wine lovers and anyone else who can appreciate these lovely colors.

I have completed two layouts with this kit and will reveal those on Friday.  Come back and see them then.

Sew Crafty–New kit and layouts

Sew Crafty is a new release today from Snips and Snails Designs.  This digital scrapbooking kit features lots of fun sewing related items and a great variety of colors.

You can see a couple of different color themes in my layouts below.  The first features Rebecca giving me a quilting lesson.  I made the “flying geese” quilt border digitally–a lot quicker than actually cutting and sewing.

The layout below shows some of the sewing projects I have done. In the past, I made  clothes and toys for my children, sewed for my home, and tried lots of different hand sewing crafts.  For many, many years I did counted cross-stitch but now I mostly do scrapbooking, digital scrapping and photography. I still appreciate hand-crafted items!

Lookin back at August–more layouts

Well tomorrow I will post two new layouts featuring a kit called Sew Crafty by Snips and Snails.  But today I wanted to share a few other layouts I made during August that I haven’t shown you yet.  All of these were from monthly activities at Digital Scrapbooking Studio, aka the Studio, one of the main scrapping websites I visit–and I like to join in the fun activities. These are challenges–activities to make you think and try new things. I’m not eligible to win any prizes because I am “on staff” there.

The first layout is from the Progessive Scrap.  Each day for seven days you get a couple of pieces of scrapbooking material and specific rules for making a layout.  You have to follow the guidelines, such as use 3 papers in some way, add 3 of these 4 elements today, etc.   You don’t know what is coming next on the next day so the ending is not foreseen until the seventh day. This sounds crazy but I think it is fun. Here’s my layout using the individual items provided.  It is a photo of Kathryn’s family at the beach last year.

The next layout is of Sarah.  I used two contrasting photos Kathryn had taken showing the two side of a two year old. This layout was done using a specific template provided at the Studio for the template challenge.  That means the basic layout is given, but you can change things around and use any materials and photos you wish.  It is titled Sugar and Spice.

The next layout features William with photos taken during his visit with us this summer.  We went to the Tellus Science Museum and had fun.  My photos were not that good taken with my pocket camera, but when I saw this free Quick Page with the space theme in the Studio newsletter, I had the insert the cute photos of William.

I have a few more I will show to you another day.  Hope you have a great day today.  Try to do something creative!

I’m Published!

Yes, that’s right I’m published in the September 2012 issue of ScrapStreet Magazine.  I had submitted two layouts for consideration for publication and BOTH were selected.  The first is a layout about William learning how to write is name in 4 year kindergarten.  Kathryn, his mom, took the photos and I did the layout.  It appears in the Back to School section.  Here’s the layout!

The next one is about Rebecca and I going to Chiaha in the fall.  The photos were taken in 2010 during our visit.  I submitted it for the Special Friends section but it was published in another section about colors.  Here’s that layout.
